Bo Bernhard (International Gaming Institute) was recently selected as the recipient of the 2017 Harry Reid Silver State Research Award. The award recognizes faculty members whose work significantly advances the recipient’s academic field, addresses real-world needs and concerns, and contributes to Nevada’s economic growth and development. Bernhard's research focuses on the sociological and psychological impacts of gambling on the individual and the community. Over the years, Bernhard has done extensive research on the impacts of gambling in global communities and is frequently called upon to consult with national and international governments that are interested in bringing the gaming industry to their respective jurisdictions.
