Ashley Hairston Doughty (Art) facilitated a workshop during the ArtPlace Virtual Summit 2020 called “Applying Creative Placemaking to COVID-19” last month. The workshop, co-facilitated with Jen Krava of Forecast and artist Mark Salinas, centered Smart Growth America’s Arts & Transportation Rapid Response, which matches artists with transportation agencies, for insight into how to address COVID-related problems creatively. Artists attending the workshop learned how they can contribute within their own communities, and public agency staff learned how artists can help resolve pandemic challenges. Doughty was chosen as one of five artists from around the country to develop the Arts & Transportation Rapid Response project with the RTC of Southern Nevada, the project that was recently installed at the RTC’s Bonneville Transit Center in downtown Las Vegas.
