Arpita Basu (Kinesiology and Nutrition Sciences) presented at the 78th scientific session of the American Diabetes Association in Orando, Florida. Her presentation, "Dietary Fiber Intake and Glycemic Control-Coronary Artery Calcification in Type 1 Diabetes (CACTI) Study'" was among the four presentations selected based on significant findings at a moderated session on Dietary Influences of Diabetes. The abstract reports findings on the protective associations of increasing fiber intake with reduced risks of serum hemoglobin A1c, the clinical biomarker of diabetes. This is part of Basu's ongoing collaborations with epidemiology researchers at the University of Colorado School of Public Health.
