Faculty members Amanda Belarmino and Cass Shum (both Hospitality), along with alumnae Yunxuan Carrie Zhang (Ph.D. '22) and Dina Zemke (Ph.D. '03), recently wrote an article that was featured in the International Hospitality Review. The article, "Comparing the antecedents of manager’s and employee’s job satisfaction in the housekeeping department," details the findings of a study in which housekeeping managers and supervisors were surveyed to understand the factors that impacted their job satisfaction and behavioral intentions. The researchers then compared those results to online reviews from Glassdoor for housekeeping employees and supervisors. The authors found that both levels of employees had many of the same antecedents of job satisfaction but that work-life balance and training only impacted housekeeping managers.
