Adam Paul (Theatre) delivered a presentation on podcasting for creatives to the inaugural Humanities Podcast Network Symposium Oct. 16.
The symposium is a program of discussions and workshops about using podcasts for teaching, learning and scholarship in the humanities. The event gathered instructors, scholars, and independent creators working in the humanities, to build support for those who are interested teaching with podcasts and/or making their own podcasts.
Paul's presentation focused on the courses he teaches in the College of Fine Arts Department of Theatre Podcast: Creation and Podcast: Production. The courses introduce content creation/self-production techniques for creative performing students, designed to give them the tools and experience necessary to actively participate in the creation, production and distribution of original content that builds on their performance skills.
The result, across two semesters, is a fully produced fiction podcast, POD115, a serialized fiction podcast named one of the top 20 sci-fi podcasts of 2020. Students also develop their own podcast concepts in various categories and topics of their choice, then produce their own five-minute teaser of that concept.
Season 2 of POD115 releases Oct. 28 on most podcast platforms.
