All new students to UNLV must audition for studio placements before the beginning of school. Please contact the division coordinator in your area of concentration to arrange a placement audition.

To apply to UNLV’s School of Music, you must complete an audition, interview, portfolio review, or some combination of the three.

Membership in an ensemble is based upon each conductor’s evaluation of your potential contribution to the ensemble as well as your previous music experience.

Instrument Rentals can be purchased at the cage in HFA 236.

Lockers are $25 each semester, and can be purchased at the cage in HFA 236.

The School of Music has created an online placement test for all music students before they enroll in the Musicianship (theory and ear training) course sequence. This is a mandatory test to accurately assess your knowledge and skills, and to place you in the appropriate musicianship course and must be taken by Monday, August 26.

All vehicles parking on the UNLV campus are required to have a parking permit except at meters, or in Lot S, which is a free lot.

Practice passes are $50 per semester, and must be registered and purchased at the UNLV School of Music office.

All students must pass the Piano Proficiency exam to graduate.
