The UNLV Early Music Ensemble (MUSE 494/694) performs works written before 1800. Under the guidance of Dr. Jonathan Rhodes Lee, students perform music from the Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque periods. Students’ stylistic and historical understanding of early music is increased through exposure to the notation, performance practices, and instruments appropriate to this repertoire. UNLV's collection of harpsichords and its growing cache of other period instruments are made available for student use. This course is open to instrumentalists and vocalists, and community members are welcome to join. The UNLV Early Music Ensemble is offered each semester and may be repeated for credit.
