Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Society
About
The Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Society was established in 2020 at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV. AOA recognizes those students, faculty, and residents who attain high educational achievement, demonstrate gifted teaching, encourage the development of leaders in academia and the community, support the ideals of humanism, and promote service to others.
The induction event is held each Fall semester.

Selection Process
Students
Up to 20% of the graduating class can be selected for AOA. Students do not seek nomination. All students in good standing are eligible for consideration. Approximately 30% of each graduating class is nominated for consideration. Metrics may include:
- Clerkship grades
- USMLE scores
- Phase 1 performance
- Shelf Exam Scores
Students who qualify based upon the above criteria are invited to submit additional information on their activities in the following areas:
- Service
- Leadership
- Research
- Professionalism
Current AOA members are invited to attend the annual selection meeting. Students are required to register with the national AOA and pay their initial student dues before being formally recognized as an AOA member.
