After review of the primary AMCAS application, select and competitive individuals will be asked to submit a Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV secondary application.

The secondary application is only sent to Nevada residents, those with qualifying Nevada connections, and applicants from our Western region list of states. All applicants will receive an email upon receipt of their AMCAS application, which will also contain email instructions for those with ties to Nevada who are not from a Western region state. In this email, an applicant can provide the school connection details for secondary application consideration.

Minimum MCAT and GPA metrics must be met to receive a secondary invitation. If the MCAT is pending at the time of primary application, a candidate will go to secondary once the score arrives and is qualifying.

The secondary application is completed online in UNLV’s admissions portal and has a separate fee of $75. Students who qualify for the AMCAS fee assistance program will not be required to pay the fee.

The secondary application consists of several short essay questions and also has an area where you can provide extended information about ties to Nevada. It is highly recommended to use this area to explain your connection to Nevada. This area may also be used to elaborate on any academic issues or other application nuances you believe the committee should know.

Each applicant will also be required to submit a headshot photograph with his/her secondary application. This photo will be used throughout the admissions process and is presented to groups like interviewers and the admissions committee. This photo should be professional in its appearance.

If you believe you qualify for a secondary application invitation but did not receive a message to complete one, please email admissions@medicine.unlv.edu.
