Model Curriculum

By surveying the best programs in the country, we created a model program that is both innovative and successful. Our students learn the practice of marriage and family therapy through cutting-edge courses in human sexuality, best practices, and professional papers. They also gain hands-on experience in the on-site clinic (The Center for Individual, Couple, and Family Counseling) where they can obtain 500 hours of clinical work.

As a result of our well-rounded curriculum and top-notch facilities, our students have one of the highest pass rates in the country on the national marriage and family therapy exam, with one of the overall highest average scores.

Close Faculty Mentorship

The 5-1 faculty-to-student ratio allows for close mentoring between the faculty and students and offers students the opportunity to get involved in research. In the past, students have published books and written articles with our faculty members, and students perform their clinical work under close supervision of the faculty.

Life After UNLV

Graduates of our program master a wide range of interpersonal skills that prepare them for life after UNLV. Our students learn how to assess and treat a wide variety of problems encountered in clinical practice in individuals, couples, and families with relationship problems. They also learn how to effectively join with and retain clients, all invaluable tools as a marriage and family therapist.

Accreditation

Our master's degree program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) with candidacy status.

Pushing the Envelope

Our program continues to be a work in progress as we aspire to remain on the forefront of marriage and family therapy. I believe we will continue to gain national visibility with our quality faculty, quality students, and quality training.
