Crowd Management Research Council
CMRC faculty and staff, in conjunction with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, are developing training materials for police agencies on the topic of managing political protests. Sgt. Robert Kroll and Tamara Madensen delivered training on managing political protests to police and crime analysts at the international 2013 Problem-Oriented Policing Conference. Please contact Tamara Madensen for additional information.
In 2013, the CMRC was commissioned to study threats to safety and security on and around escalators in large sports venues. Several best practice venue escalator management strategies were identified as the result of this project. CMRC faculty and staff, in conjunction with industry experts and professionals, are currently developing materials for escalator safety presentations and trainings. Please contact Tamara Madensen for additional information.
The CMRC is currently working with the Silver State Law Enforcement Academy to develop P.O.S.T.-certified police academy curriculum on effective crowd management. This curriculum offers training on crowd psychology, collective violence prevention techniques, de-escalation strategies, and tactical responses to crowd safety and security threats. Please contact Tamara Madensen for additional information.
