About Randy Lavigne

Randy (Randell) L. Lavigne, Honorary AIA, served as the executive director of both the AIA Nevada and Las Vegas Chapters of the American Institute of Architects for more than two decades before retiring in 2021. Randy re-established the chapters and brought them to prominence within the organization as two of the most active and respected components in the Institute.

Randy has been a dynamic and effective proponent for architects and the profession in political and legislative arenas both within Nevada and nationally. Her service has led to a better understanding and awareness of architecture that has been of truly outstanding significance.

Randy was instrumental in the School of Architecture receiving its first - and subsequent - NAAB Accreditations. Further, by working with the Architecture Studies Library and the Special Collections at the Lied Library, Randy established an AIA archive of architectural projects. The libraries are now the repository for all AIA records and in particular, the records of projects that are submitted for recognition through the AIA Nevada Excellence in Design and Distinguished Service Awards Programs. Randy also established the chapter’s official magazine, Architecture Las Vegas, and served as publisher for 10 years.

Education and the future of the profession have always been of the utmost importance for Randy. It is fitting that this scholarship will assist in providing architecture students with the ability to complete their studies and to continue toward licensure in the profession.
