Colleagues,

I am happy to announce that Nazia Khan, MD, has been appointed to serve as assistant dean for clinical education with the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV. In this role, Dr. Khan will oversee all aspects of clinical education of medical students in the MD program, including foundations of clinical practice, third-year core clinical clerkships, and all advanced fourth-year rotations and electives. Among her many additional duties, she will participate in the school of medicine’s continuous quality improvement program and support compliance with the accreditation standards of the Liaison Committee for Medical Education.

Dr. Khan graduated from Dow Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan, in 1995. Dr. Khan joined the department of internal medicine at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine in 2004 after completing her residency training in internal medicine at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, and the University Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. She joined the faculty of the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine in 2016. She sees patients at UNLV Health and is board-certified in internal medicine and obesity medicine.

Throughout her career, Dr. Khan has been actively involved in undergraduate and graduate medical education. She has played an instrumental role in the development of the clinical curriculum and has served as the internal medicine clerkship and electives director since 2016. The quality of her teaching and leadership is evident in the fact that internal medicine has been awarded the top clinical teaching department by three of the first four graduating classes.

Dr. Khan is a wonderful mentor and advisor to medical students. She has served as the co-chair of the Internal Medicine Interest Group since 2019 and was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society in 2022.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Nazia Khan to her new role.
