I am happy to announce that Nadia Gomez, MD, FACOG, has been appointed to serve as assistant dean of clinical affairs for the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV. In this new role, Dr. Gomez will focus on interdepartmental program development and clinical expansion.
A graduate of Ponce Health Sciences University, Dr. Gomez completed her obstetrics & gynecology residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. After her residency, she pursued a fellowship in minimally invasive gynecology surgery (MIGS) and chronic pelvic pain at Florida Hospital and Cleveland Clinic Florida.
Along with being an associate professor and vice chair of the department of gynecologic surgery & obstetrics, Dr. Gomez currently serves as the director of the division of MIGS at the school of medicine and is one of the many faculty physicians who are delivering high-quality, evidence-based patient care to Southern Nevadans. Providing patient care through our affiliated practice, UNLV Health, she primarily focuses on the management of endometriosis, fibroids, menstrual cycle disorders, vulvar disorders, ovarian cysts, and chronic pelvic pain. Dr. Gomez also serves as a member of UNLV’s Biomedical IRB and of the peri-obstetric committee at UMC.
Dr. Gomez is passionate about resident education and research, and she has developed an OB-GYN resident curriculum that focuses on teamwork, communication skills, and surgical development skills. Since joining the school, Dr. Gomez has received various awards, such as the Top Doctor Castle Connolly Award, the Top Doctor OB-GYN Award from the University Medical Center (UMC), and The Association of Professors of Gynecology & Obstetrics (APGO) Excellence in Teaching Award.
