  • UNLV Department of Communication Studies

    Jennifer Guthrie, assistant professor of communication studies at UNLV, discusses the benefits of majoring in communication studies. The department offers undergraduate and graduate programs designed to understand and improve all facets of human verbal and nonverbal interaction through teaching, research, and service.   • Student Opportunities at KUNV 91.5 FM Radio

    KUNV 91.5 FM is a radio station located within the UNLV Hank Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies. For the last 35 years, KUNV has been an integral part of the Southern Nevada community. KUNV programming includes shows on health, community issues, and politics. Local bands have the opportunity to showcase their talent through the radio station. The station offers a diverse set of musical programming such as jazz, indie rock, hip hop and world music. KUNV provides students from all across majors professional and learning opportunities. Students have the opportunity to learn production, reporting, and management.   • UNLV Criminal Justice Mock Trial Team

    The UNLV Criminal Justice Mock Trial team is housed within the department of criminal justice at the UNLV Greenspun College of Urban Affairs. The team is open to all undergraduate majors, and includes students majoring in criminal justice, English, economics and political science. To prepare for regional and national tournaments, students spend the academic year taking classes in trial advocacy, practicing mock trials, and arguing in front of practicing attorneys and judges from Southern Nevada.     Judy Tudor is graduate of UNLV's School of Social Work at the Greenspun College of Urban Affairs. She turned her own foster care experience into a career helping kids through tough situations. Now at UNLV's School of Social Work, she’s training child welfare employees.     Katherine Hertlein is a professor and program director of the marriage and family therapy program at the UNLV Greenspun College of Urban Affairs. The marriage and family therapy program oversees The Center for Individual, Couple and Family Counseling. Services are available for anyone in Southern Nevada and are offered at low-cost fees.
