The UNLV Investigational Drug Services (IDS) Pharmacy, housed within the UNLV Student Health Pharmacy, is a licensed and accredited outpatient pharmacy that provides research support for investigational drugs used in clinical trials by principal investigators at UNLV. The pharmacy has Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) trained staff to ensure Institutional Review Board (IRB) regulatory compliance as well as uphold the principles of good clinical practice (GCP).
UNLV IDS Pharmacy Services
IDS pharmacy services include:
- Protocol review for feasibility and budgeting
- Meetings with sponsors, investigators, monitors and study coordinators
- Randomization, blinding and accountability of investigational product (IP)
- Protocol specific staff training
- Procurement and storage of IP under restricted access
- Storage of IP using continuous temperature monitoring system with remote alerts
- Storage of IP under room temperature conditions, vaccine grade refrigerator and ultra-cold freezer
- Dispensing IP (accountability, processing, labeling and counseling)
- Coordination of appropriate drug transport with chain of custody documentation
- Auditing of IP at off-site clinical locations
- Disposal, destruction and/or return of IP to sponsor
- Record retention and final closeout of studies
- Current and active NV Board of Pharmacy license and DEA license
- Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) accredited pharmacy
- Cultural competency trained pharmacy staff
