Lockout/Tagout refers to the practice of implementing safeguards to machines and equipment to prevent the release of hazardous energy during service and maintenance. The OSHA standard for this program is found in 29 CFR 1910.147.

Most machines and equipment on campus may be safeguarded using general lockout and/or tagout procedures found in the Hazardous Energy Control Program. Machines and equipment which require specific lockout procedures will be addressed with those affected employees and departments and may be viewed by clicking on their associating procedures.
