If you will need to access, store, or share data, or need additional information, you can review the guidelines provided through the Office of Research Integrity.
If you will be developing new technology, methodologies, systems or other patentable innovations please review resources from the Office of Economic Development.
Export Controls
If the project involves:
- exporting hardware, equipment, specimens, goods, software or monies
- sharing or transferring information or data to foreign nationals in the United States or abroad (including UNLV faculty, staff, or students)
- travel to or collaboration with a person or entity in a sanctioned country (e.g., Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria)
Contact the Export Control Officer.
Environmental Health & Safety
Contact the UNLV Institutional Biosafety Committee if the proposed project includes any of the following: Biohazards, Radioactive materials, Chemical thresholds (toxic, unstable, explosive) recombinant DNA, infectious materials, human materials, and toxins.
Human Subjects
If the project involves Human Subjects, or identifiable data or specimens drawn from human subjects review the UNLV Human Subjects guidelines.
Clinical Trials
If the project involves clinical trials, UNLV Medicine faculty, facilities, or services contact the Clinical Trials Manager.
Animal Care and Use
If the research involves any facet of animal use including, care, handling, husbandry or interaction contact the UNLV Animal Care Services.
Parties Involved
Gifts from Foreign Entities
Gift funding that originates from a party located in or affiliated with the government of Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Syria or China must be reviewed for acceptability.
Gifts from Federal Restricted Parties
If the funding originates from a federal restricted party contact the Export Control Officer.
Financial Interest
If you, or other researchers participating in the design, conduct, or reporting of the project, have a Significant Financial Interest as defined in Conflict of Interest/Compensated Outside Services Policy contact the Office of Research Integrity for disclosure requirements for research supported by Gift Funding
