The physical therapy department admits 48 students each summer of the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. Applicants who apply early and by September 1 will be given priority status in our admissions process, as compared to applicants who apply later. It is to the applicant's benefit to apply as soon as possible after June 17, as the Admissions Committee will begin reviewing applications to select those for interviews starting in November. Late applications will not be considered. All "complete" applications are reviewed by October 15th. The program does not use rolling admissions.
Interviews
Following initial application review and scoring, a limited number of applicants (approximately 110) are invited to an on-campus interview. Historically an on-campus interview is mandatory. Email invitations for on-campus interviews are typically sent each year starting in mid-October and are issued throughout November until all available interview seats are filled. On-campus interviews will be held in early November before the holiday break.
Applicants who do not receive a final interview invitation will be notified via email no later than the end of January. Applicants who are not offered an on-campus interview may re-apply during the next admission cycle.
Offer of Acceptance
Following the final interview, the admissions committee emails an offer of acceptance to successful applicants. The process to seat 48 incoming students typically takes most of the spring semester. The program uses an alternate list and applicants placed on the alternate list are apprised of their approximate position to assist with applicant planning.
Program Start
Classes for the incoming cohort of DPT students start during the first week of June each year. Incoming students must attend a mandatory DPT orientation on Thursday and Friday prior to the start of classes.
