Biography
Yonsu Kim, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Healthcare Administration and Policy in the School of Public Health. His research interests include pediatric asthma, disparities in healthcare utilization, health informatics, and quality improvement. He has examined various social and environmental determinants of asthma disparities among minority children, applying health informatics and data science skills. He has collaborated with various disciplines, including epidemiology, medicine, pharmacy, data science, economics, and planning. His current research examines what contributes to disparities in healthcare utilization focusing on cultural and educational characteristics among minority families and adherence to medication. He teaches Health Economics, U.S. Healthcare System, and Healthcare Finance. Previously, he taught at University of California, Irvine and California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Dr. Kim received his doctoral degree from University of California, Irvine and served as a researcher and analyst at the government agencies, such as LA Care, SCAG, and KDI.
