Biography
Wonda Riner, MBA, chief information and marketing officer for the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV, is a people-first leader who has made it her mission to make the school, UNLV, Nevada and beyond a better place. By focusing on employees, and internal and external colleagues and supporting their needs, Riner is enabling them to better support their constituents, which includes faculty, students, residents, fellows, patients, and the community. Through the compounding effect of her people-first leadership style, she is helping UNLV transform healthcare.
Riner has developed her leadership style over her 20+ years of progressive advancement at UNLV. Beginning her UNLV career in the office of information technology, Riner went on to serve the office of faculty affairs from 2013-2016 before ultimately joining the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV in 2016. Since joining the school of medicine, she has played a key role in the initial and ongoing accreditation efforts, as well as the transition of the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine’s clinical enterprise located in Southern Nevada to UNLV Health, the affiliated clinical practice of the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine. She was recognized in 2017 by Vegas Inc magazine as one of Las Vegas’ Top Tech Executives for her leadership and work during that transition.
Recognized for her past experience in and focus on project and department communication, Riner was tapped to oversee the school’s marketing and communications unit, an appointment that was ultimately made permanent.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Riner received her MBA from Saint Francis University and her BS from Pennsylvania State University.
