Tamara Marino
Director of Community Engagement
Biography
Tamara Marino serves as Director of Community Engagement in the Office of Government and Community Engagement to support, facilitate, and promote collaboration, partnership, and engagement between the university and its many communities. Her work focuses on educating community members, businesses, non-profits, and government agencies about opportunities to partner with UNLV and the processes involved in doing so. Additionally, she supports activity related to the Top Tier Strategic Plan for Community Partnerships and the university’s application for the Carnegie Classification for Community Engagement.
Marino, who graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Public Administration, initially joined UNLV in 2012, working with the College of Liberal Art’s Women’s Research Institute of Nevada, the National Education for Women (NEW) in Leadership program, and the Women’s Council, for which she was able to draw upon her three decades of experience in government and non-profit sectors.
Prior to joining UNLV, Marino worked in the non-profit sector as a development officer serving our nation’s leading performing and visual arts, educational, environmental, and healthcare organizations. In 2005, Tamara joined the State of Nevada’s Department of Veterans Services, where she served as a legislative liaison, facilitated federal grants, and managed public relations, marketing, and special events.
