Get To Know This Resident
Why did you choose the obstetrics and gynecology residency program at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV?
I ranked UNLV highly as a military applicant because I knew I wanted to train in a civilian combined program to really get the most high acuity and high volume experience and serve our very unique population here. There is a huge need for healthcare services here. I also really value the opportunity to practice complex family planning here in Nevada.
What are your interests within obstetrics and gynecology?
My interests within OB-GYN are global health and relief work. I hope to do a rural/global health fellowship after my military commitment ends and hopefully be able to use my Arabic overseas!
What is your favorite thing to do in Las Vegas?
Explore the nearby national and state parks, and the fact that all my friends from around the world come to visit me here.
What is one fun fact about you?
In high school, I was a really serious figure skater and was going to audition for Disney on Ice and travel the world, but my mom said absolutely not and made me go to college instead.
What is one piece of advice you would give to candidates interested in the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program?
I ended up matching to a PGY-1 transitional year position in my first application cycle with the military and matched OB-GYN my second time around. The match and applications are so stressful, but just remember life goes on, and everything will be OK!
