Biography
Sonaly Silva, Psy.D., is a licensed psychologist and the Associate Director of Training at UNLV Student Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). In this role, she oversees the APA-accredited Doctoral Internship Program and the practicum training programs at CAPS. She completed her APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at Western Carolina University Counseling and Psychological Services and her post-doctoral fellowship at the University of North Carolina Wilmington Counseling Center.
Silva has a passion for training and supervising emerging mental health professionals. Clinically, she is dedicated to working with diverse populations, including immigrants, children of immigrants, international students navigating acculturation challenges, individuals experiencing race-related stress, those coping with grief and loss, students with developmental disabilities, and those exploring identity development. She incorporates a multicultural framework into her practice, tailoring her approach to meet each student’s unique needs. Her therapeutic style integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with a feminist, multicultural lens.
A strong advocate for social justice and equity, Silva is committed to fostering inclusive spaces for growth and healing. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, exploring the outdoors, cooking, and spending quality time with friends and family.
