Shane Epting is a philosopher of the city who researches ethics in engineering and urban planning, focusing on transportation infrastructure and policy. He is also a research associate with the Transportation Research Center in the Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering at UNLV. His other interests include environmental justice and ethics, food sovereignty, and municipal government. He has published several articles in journal such as Science and Engineering Ethics, Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Ethics, Philosophia,Contemporary Justice Review, and Interdisciplinary Environmental Review.

Currently, he is the president of the Philosophy of the City Research Group and president of the Interdisciplinary Environmental Association
