Biography

Alongside courses in British and world literature, Scott Hollifield teaches undergraduate Shakespeare with emphasis on audience reception and cinematic adaptation. He has composed a monograph on Shakespeare’s Chaucerian muse, contributed articles on film to Borrowers and Lenders: The Journal of Shakespeare and Appropriation, and collaborated on the instructor’s guide for The Norton Anthology of World Literature. A member of the Shakespeare Association of America, Hollifield's recent publications include “Dirty Rats, Dead for a Ducat: Shakespearean Echoes (and an Accident) in Some Films of James Cagney” for the collection Shakespeare/Not Shakespeare (Palgrave Macmillan, 2017), while his present, all-consuming project is the book-length manuscript Shakespearean Film Technologies and the Birth of Consumable Wonder.
