Biography
Sandy Mangold is a retired USAF Colonel, who is 7th Generation military. As a commissioned officer, Sandy had been assigned to 19 separate locations around-the-world. He served as an Orbital Analyst in Cheyenne Mountain; was an aide to a Lt. General; worked as a Space Shuttle Flight Controller in NASA Mission Control at the Johnson Space Center; served as the Commander of a Squadron stationed in the Middle East on the Tigris River; was a National Security Council & Joint Staffer Planner for the USAF Chief of Staff; and served as an intern on the National Security Council. He attended the Air Command & Staff College, Air Force Institute of Technology, Naval War College and taught at the U.S. Army War College.
Sandy graduated with a bachelor of science degree (Mathematics) from the University of Florida. He earned his commission through the AFROTC Program and was named a Distinguished Military Graduate. He earned a master of science degree from the School of Engineering at the Air Force Institute of Technology (R&D Systems Management) and a master of arts degree from the Naval War College (National Security Affairs). His military decorations include: The Legion of Merit; The Defense Meritorious Service Medal; Five (5) Air Force Meritorious Service Medals; Four (4) Air Force Commendation Medals; and two (2) National Defense Medals. He holds the ranking of Master Space Operations Officer and was awarded the Joint Chiefs of Staff Identification Badge. He was recently awarded the FBI National Citizens Academy Alumni Association’s Meritorious Service medal.
Sandy has been certified as a Fireman; an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT); and is the Executive Director of the FBI National Citizens Academy Alumni Association. He has attended the Las Vegas Metro Police Citizens Academy and the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency Citizens Academy. He is considered an expert on Emergency Operations Planning and works with the Las Vegas Fire Department on fire suppression systems. He also serves as the Director, Law Enforcement Assistance Fund for the Las Vegas Metro Police Department’s Police Protective Association.
