Biography
Sandra Candel received her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in cultural studies, international education, and multicultural education from UNLV. Candel is an immigrant, Mother Scholar of Color and Multicultural Educator. She is a visiting assistant professor of teacher education, serves as the lead for the NITEP-CCSP Chile partnership, and most recently, she is part of the team that oversees the NV-EPIC project. She is committed to building inclusive classrooms through the development of Culturally Responsive Teaching practices and her research interests include transnational students who are part of the Mexican educational system after the deportation of their parents, as well as the role of transnational sensitivity of teachers to support them.
