Rick Arpin
Biography
Rick Arpin is a seasoned finance and operational executive, and a 1995 graduate of UNLV’s Lee Business School with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. His career has spanned multiple industries and disciplines, with a common thread of growing teams and delivering results.
Rick is currently the managing partner of the Las Vegas office of global accounting, tax and consulting firm KPMG. He is responsible for growing the firm’s revenue across all service lines in Las Vegas and in the gaming industry.
Previously, Rick was an executive with NRT Technology, a provider of financial services and innovative tools to the gaming industry. Prior to that, he was senior vice president of entertainment for MGM Resorts in Las Vegas, Nevada where he oversaw all aspects of the company’s large-scale entertainment venues, including the conception, development and operations of T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Also with MGM, Rick served in a variety of finance positions, including senior vice president and corporate controller, where he oversaw the treasury function and managed the company’s finance shared services center, a 400-plus employee unit responsible for MGM’s accounting transaction processes. Rick was part of corporate finance projects as wide-ranging as the $8 billion acquisition of Mandalay Resort Group in 2005, the $750 million sale of Treasure Island in 2009, and raising almost $4 billion of debt and equity capital from 2008 through 2010.
Prior to his time at MGM, Rick was with the Las Vegas office of Arthur Andersen, where his audit and consulting clients included many of the major gaming operators. Rick has presented on, and written about, various industry and accounting matters. In 2013, he received the Shared Services Thought Leader of the Year award from SSON, and was named the Institute of Finance & Management’s Controller of the Year. In 2010, he was named to Treasury and Risk Magazine’s “40 Under 40” list.
In 2012, Rick was named UNLV’s Accounting Alumnus of the Year. He has been actively involved with UNLV during his career, serving two terms on the board of the alumni association, acting as an advisor to the Accounting Department, mentoring Lee Business School students, and guest-speaking at several classes.
