Biography
Ralph W. Buechler, associate professor of German studies, has been teaching German language, literature, and culture at UNLV since 1989. He received his Ph.D. in German literature from the University of Wisconsin.
Buechler has served as departmental chair from 1995-1998, in the fall 2003 and from 2007-2016. He has also served on or chaired numerous departmental, college and university committees, including the Faculty Senate. His research interests include literary theory, cultural studies, literary criticism, the essay, biography, autobiography, and travel literature and translation. He has published a book on the 18th century essay of the German Enlightenment, over twenty refereed and invited articles in regional and national journals, as well as over thirty book reviews and other publications. Buechler has presented papers at over fifty regional, national, and international conferences.
