Biography
Profesor Dr. Phil Purnell has been working in the field of concrete technology for nearly 20 years, initially focussing on the durability of cementitious composites and later developing work on super-critical carbonation, non-destructive testing, the embodied carbon of structural materials and elements, critical materials in infrastructure, and service-oriented infrastructure provision. He leads a multidisciplinary team of researchers and academics at the University of Leeds (UK) who investigate sustainable and resilient infrastructure, involving work at the interstices between Engineering, Economics and Environmental Science. He has published over 100 articles with more than 60 co-authors from across the world and is responsible for a research portfolio of over £10M, funded by government and industry.
