Biography
Peter Wiens joined the Department of Teaching and learning following more than a dozen years of experience as a teacher and school administrator in the United States, Taiwan, and Niger. After earning a Ph.D. at the University of Virginia, Wiens was an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Wiens first joined UNLV as a post-doctoral scholar in 2016 and joined the tenure track faculty a year later. He additionally conducts research designed to understand the experiences and attitudes towards teacher leadership in preK-12 schools. He is currently involved in projects intended to create and implement new measures designed to understand teacher education student learning and assess teacher experiences with leadership. Wiens’s teaching focuses on the master’s degree and graduate certificate in leadership for teachers and professionals.
