Patricia Cook-Craig joined the UNLV School of Public Policy and Leadership in the College of Urban Affairs in 2016 as an Associate Professor. She began her practice career at an agency that operated a dual domestic violence shelter and sexual assault programming before deciding to return to get a doctoral degree in social work. Dr. Cook-Craig earned her doctoral degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an M.S.S.W. from the University of Texas at Arlington, and her B.S.W. and bachelor of arts in history, from the University of Texas at Austin. Her recent research has focused on the designing prevent evaluation systems and the role that learning and professional social networks play in shaping individual and organizational outcomes. Over the past 18 years, Dr. Cook-Craig has worked with states and local communities to design and conduct evaluations of sexual violence prevention programs for middle school, high school, and college populations. As part of her work on school-based prevention program evaluations, she served as the co-principal investigator on a five-year CDC-funded randomized control trial study to test the effectiveness of Green Dot, a bystander prevention program, in reducing dating and sexual violence in high schools. In addition, she conducts community-based research on preventing homelessness.
