Seyedehnastaran (Nastaran) Hashemi

Biography
Nastaran Hashemi is an assistant professor of Interior Design at UNLV’s School of Architecture. Her research is mainly focused on the impact of built environment design on human health and well-being, especially in healthcare settings. Her research interests include teamwork, patient fall, patient and staff safety, and wayfinding.
Nastaran is interested in interdisciplinary research efforts to further enhance the efficacy and effectiveness of evidence-based design solutions in solving complex, multifaceted problems. Recently, she was involved in an interdisciplinary research project focusing on reducing patient falls using innovative solutions supported by the National Science Foundation. The project received multiple awards, including the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center’s President Innovative Startup Award.
Nastaran’s work has been recognized through multiple national and international awards from several associations, including the Center for Health Design, the Environmental Design Research Association, the American society of Interior Designers, and the International Academy for Design and Health.
She holds a Master’s in Architecture from Iran University of Science and Technology and a Master of Science in Environmental Design from Texas Tech University.
