Michael Lawrence, DPP
Associate Vice President, Administration Services
Biography
Michael Lawrence has worked at UNLV since 2003. In his current role as the associate vice president of administration services for Business Affairs, he oversees various infrastructure areas including telecommunications, parking and transportation services, delivery services, risk management & safety, and administration technology services. He has years of executive-level experience managing people, programs, projects, and budgets for central service and administrative organizations.
Philosophy
Mr. Lawrence has excellent managerial and technical skills with the ability to build strong teams and lead professional and financial organizations in complex projects with limited resources. An innovative leader with demonstrated analytical and communications skills, Mr. Lawrence can think conceptually and understand the big picture but also has an operations mindset that allows him to get things done quickly in a way that benefits the entire university.
Background
A Southern Nevada native, Mr. Lawrence was raised in Las Vegas and Overton. He joined the Marine Corps after graduating high school. During his service, he was trained in supply and logistics. He developed a strong understanding of modern logistical knowledge and techniques and mentored junior Marines. His role and responsibility as a mentor helped him gain a leadership role at UNLV.
