Biography
A Las Vegas native, Michael graduated from Basic High School in Henderson. After five years in the Marine Corps, Michael came home to attend school and earned his B.A. in Political Science from UNLV. A lifelong learner, Michael returned to UNLV in 2020 to attend Boyd Law School and will complete his Juris Doctor in December 2023.
Professionally, Michael’s career has been guided by his integrity and dedication to service. As a Marine Michael worked as an analyst; trusted to gather, synthesize, and disseminate data related to national security. In 2008, Michael became a sworn law enforcement officer, working as a patrolman, reserve SWAT officer, and filling numerous instructor billets. In 2017 Michael was promoted to the detective bureau. As a detective, Michael spent five years specializing in fraud, financial crimes, and identity theft before volunteering for the Special Victims Unit (SVU) to investigate crimes against children. Most recently Michael joined his department’s Crisis Negotiation Team. Michael is trained in forensic interview, cognitive interview, and statement analysis, but his greatest strength is his ability to engage with and empathetically relate to people. As a peace officer, Michael has spent his entire career responding to disputes and seeking just and equitable solutions to conflict.
After attending mediation training at the Boyd, Michael looks forward to helping parties reach their own solutions by voicing their concerns, encouraging them to hear one another, and facilitating the flow of communication.
