Get To Know This Resident
Why did you choose the obstetrics and gynecology residency program at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV?
Coming from a faith-based institution, I hadn’t been exposed to certain reproductive healthcare discussions and clinical situations just by nature of hospital policy and limitations, and it was an area I have been incredibly passionate about since early undergrad. During my sub-internship here, I was so amazed at how comprehensive the reproductive healthcare training was, and that excited me. I also am really passionate about working with this patient population – it was similar to that in Phoenix, and I knew it was a population I wanted to keep serving and getting involved in social advocacy for. Summer has also always been my favorite season growing up, so I was very okay not training somewhere with snow.
What are your interests within obstetrics and gynecology?
Generalist, for now! I love the wide breadth of gynecology, but I also love the labor floor.
What is your favorite thing to do in Las Vegas?
Honestly, just walking around and people-watching is so much fun on the Strip. Off of the Strip, I’m very big into finding fun new restaurants and have been exploring a lot of Chinatown recently.
What is one fun fact about you?
I am unashamedly obsessed with reality TV. Currently, I’m making my way through “Vanderpump Rules” and all the iterations of “Real Housewives.”
What is one piece of advice you would give to candidates interested in the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program?
I never believed anyone when they said this to me as an applicant, but I promise it’s true. You will find yourself having fun during interviews, so lean into that. They have specific questions they want to ask you, yes, but so much of it is just letting them see who you are as a person and your personality. The more you can relax into the process and show them that, they will get a better idea of you, and you will get such a better idea of what programs align with you.
