Dr. Woeber has been practicing as a certified nurse-midwife since 1999, and has been educating nurses and midwives since 2004. She specializes in perinatal health and reproductive wellness, health assessment, quality improvement, and professional issues.

Education Background

Dr. Woeber completed her doctoral degree, her dual master of Science in nursing and master of Public Health degrees, and her post-Master’s Teaching Certificate at Emory University.  She earned a bachelor of science in nursing degree from D’Youville College after graduating with a bachelor of science in human development and Family Studies from Cornell University.

Research or Scholarship

In the interest of growing the midwifery workforce and increasing access to high quality healthcare, Dr. Woeber applies a theoretical approach to study different aspects of the midwifery workforce.  Recent investigations have focused on early pandemic effects on the midwifery workforce and pathways to midwifery practice.  The focus of her dissertation was the strategic scale-up of midwifery education and workforce. Her scholarship also demonstrates her strong interest in innovative teaching strategies, especially for guiding and tracking clinical competence.

Awards, recognitions, or group affiliations

Dr. Woeber has received several awards related to teaching, and is a four-time recipient of the American College of Nurse-Midwives’ Excellence in Teaching Award. She also received the Georgia Association of Nursing Students “Image of Nursing” award, “Top Reviewer” award from the Journal of Perinatal and Neonatal Nursing, and the “Top Abstract” award at Georgia Nurses’ Association Unity Conference.  During her tenure as President of the Georgia Affiliate of the American College of Nurse-Midwives, the affiliate won ACNM’s Exemplary Affiliate Award. She is a Fellow of the American College of Nurse-Midwives, and she co-founded and directs a Georgia-based labor support volunteer program.
