Dr. Karyn S. Hollingsworth joined the College of Liberal Arts as director of communications on March 1, 2017. Karyn has an extensive background in communications, marketing, public relations, advertising and media relations in higher education. She previously served for nearly five years as director of communications for the Lee Business School where she coordinated the school’s rebranding efforts following its name change and was a leader in its strategic planning process. She was also a member of the inaugural class of the UNLV Leadership Development Academy, taught First-Year Seminar and served as co-advisor of the First Generation Club.

Karyn most recently served as executive director of university communications and marketing as well as development communications specialist at Jackson State University before returning to Las Vegas. She earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism/news editorial (magna cum laude) from the University of Memphis, and a master’s degree in higher education/student personnel services and Ph.D. in higher education administration, both from the University of Mississippi.
