Kamisha is originally from Colorado Springs, CO. She is an alumna of UNLV having earned a bachelor's degree in secondary education in 2000, afterwards returning to Colorado Springs where she worked as both a middle and high school social studies teacher. After receiving her master's degree in counseling in 2007 from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, she worked as a school counselor in Colorado, Saipan (Northern Mariana Islands) and Kuwait. Kamisha relocated back to the Las Vegas area in 2012 where she worked in the Office of Admissions at UNLV and joined the Greenspun College of Urban Affairs in July of 2014.
