Bilingual Case Manager
Biography
Juana Gomez is the bilingual case manager at the UNLV Jean Nidetch Care Center. She has been working in the anti-violence field as a volunteer, advocate, and preventionist. She was born in El Salvador and raised in Los Angeles. Gomez attended Rio Hondo College for her associate degree, where she attended the police academy as a non citizen; the completion was denied. She attended and graduated from UNLV in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. She has a powerful determination to make a better life for herself and her family, and believes that being kind can change the world. She has worked within the field of advocacy in the nonprofit world, and in education for the Clark County School District.
She believes we have the power to end power-based violence within our university, our homes, our communities and as a nation. We can reach this by educating ourselves and always asking for consent.
In her spare time, she likes to spend time with family, friends, and neighbors, and eat elotes. She enjoys sitting in her favorite chair facing the mountain as her children play in the front yard with sand.
