Biography
Dr. Joshua W. Donnelly is an Assistant Professor-in-Residence at the Greenspun College of Urban Affairs, where he specializes in policing, crime prevention and analysis, and community safety. He is dedicated to creating impactful learning experiences that enrich his students' intellectual development.
As a key contributor of the Tourist Safety Institute, Dr. Donnelly has spearheaded several initiatives, including mapping opioid overdose hotspots to deploy targeted naloxone training, analyzing crime patterns during Las Vegas’s inaugural F1 race, assessing the impact of mega-events on crime and police enforcement patterns, and studying the impact of marijuana dispensaries and lounges on local crime. His work extends to large event safety and collaboration with the School of Public Health on the Cardiff Violence Prevention Initiative.
Dr. Donnelly's research applies crime science to policing and tourism safety, utilizing GIS and theory to analyze crime trends and develop evidence-based prevention and safety strategies that strengthen community-police relationships, prevent crime and disorder, and enhance overall quality of life.
