I started the division of colon and rectal surgery 15 years ago as a part of the University of Nevada, Reno, and now UNLV. I began private practice here as the first full-time colon and rectal surgeon in Nevada in 1978 after relocating from Chicago. I completed my surgical training and colon and rectal surgery fellowship at Cook County Hospital in Chicago.

I am actively involved in the training of residents and two of my past residents have gone on to become colon and rectal surgeons and practice in Las Vegas. I travel to the Philippines every 1 - 2 years as a part of a surgical team to do surgery in remote areas for some of the most underserved people for which I feel is one of the best things I have ever done. We should all give back what we can.
