Biography
Finance/Accounting/HR Executive for over 25 years. John is president and CEO of a Nevada corporate firm entrusted to manage and operate business centers at major Las Vegas hotels and resorts. He is intimately involved with all aspects of the company's daily operations, including but not limited to accounting, finance, and human resources. As president and CEO, John is responsible for the strategic planning, budget approvals, PR relations, and executive direction of the services provided, securing contracts to expand operations. SEBNIC holds the following business certifications issued by the McCarran International Airport and the Department of Transportation; (DBE, WOSB, MOSB, and LESB).
John was formerly employed by KeyState Corporate Management as vice president of accounting Operations directing the areas of finance, accounting, and human resources for over seven years. He was also responsible for overseeing and managing portfolio accounting and custody/safekeeping activities for 12 bank-investment subsidiaries and over $450 million in Nevada subsidiary assets. In addition, he performed the monthly supervision and approval of 160 financial statements for fortune-500 corporations in a variety of industries. John also worked at The Mirage Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas for over seven years in management positions in the areas of finance, accounting, internal control, and compensation.
As university professor, John has been a part-time adjunct faculty at University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) in the Hospitality College, covering the areas of financial and managerial hospitality accounting since 2014. Up until 2018, John was faculty member of the University of Phoenix for ten years where he was approved to teach various classes, including but not limited to financial, managerial, intermediate, advanced accounting, and internal controls.
In 2015, John's company was selected to participate in a federal-sponsored three-year strategic-growth program under the US Small Business Administration's Emerging Leaders Program (ELP). This eight-month course included the following areas: Business management and development, strategic planning, finance, marketing and sales, human resources, access to capital, and government contracting. In November, 2016, John was presented with a Certificate of Completion for his company’s participation in the Small Business Opportunity Program (SBOP), sponsored by The Clark County of Southern Nevada. SEBNIC has secured various government contracts since 2015.
John earned his bachelor of science in Business Administration-Accounting from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). He earned his MBA from the University of Phoenix. In 2014, John served as Executive Committee Chairman of the American Heart Association (AHA). Up until July 2008, John was a board member of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) where he served for six years. John also served a two-year board appointment as Secretary for the Community Health Charities of Nevada until December of 2011. John is an active member of the Las Vegas Latin Chamber of Commerce since 2008.
