Biography
John Joseph Casey III is an honor graduate of Norwich Military Academy in Northfield, Vermont where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice. He was a Distinguished Military Graduate and received his commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Medical Service Corps in May of 1991. He holds dual Master of Science degrees in Disaster and Emergency Management from Trident University International and Strategic Intelligence from the US Defense Intelligence College and a Ph.D. in Strategic Management from the Academy of Economics and Business in Zurich, Switzerland.
Casey retired from the US Army after 26 years specializing in leadership, operations, intelligence, strategic planning, and disaster and emergency management. He has gained considerable experience by working with foreign militaries, multinational coalitions, and diverse cultures by serving 22 ½ years overseas in Germany, Turkey, Korea, Iraq, and Italy as well as several NATO deployments to the Balkans. Professor Casey has participated in numerous Partnership for Peace (PfP) exercises and humanitarian MEDFLAG missions throughout Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union, and the African Continent.
He was awarded the prestigious Thomas Knowlton Award for significant contributions to the field of Army Intelligence by the Military Intelligence Corps Association and the Order of Military Medical Merit for his contributions to emergency management and bioterrorism response by the Army Medical Department. Professor Casey a board-certified emergency manager (CEM®) through the International Association of Emergency Managers.
