Biography
Jill Decker joined UNLV’s Office of Community Engagement in February 2019 and serves as a Community Engagement Graduate Assistant. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology at Southern Utah University in 2013. She is currently working on her master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and a practicum at The Embracing Project, which aims to restore and heal child victims of sex trafficking.
In her role with the Office of Community Engagement, Ms. Decker helps the Office achieve its mission to support, facilitate, and promote collaboration, partnership, and engagement between the university and the community. She supports day-to-day office operations and public relations activity, as well as assists with community outreach events and project management of key initiatives.
Prior to coming to UNLV, Ms. Decker worked in a substance abuse facility for adults where she helped connect clients to community resources and volunteer projects. She served on the Local Homeless Coordinating Committee, was part of a non-profit mentor group that focused on community service, and also worked with juveniles and children in a variety of settings.
