Instructional Designer
Biography
Jess is the Embedded Instructional Technologist for the College of Sciences and College of Engineering. She is also a Part-Time Instructor at Nevada State College teaching interdisciplinary courses primarily within Humanities, Sociology, and Film, including online synchronous and asynchronous, face-to-face, and hybrid modalities. Jess loves course design and development and finding new and exciting technologies to incorporate into the classroom. Prior to joining the Office of Online Education, she served as a Sr. University Resource Specialist at University of Phoenix, Las Vegas Campus, a role that included student resources and services support, faculty support, local event planning, and career services. She has also taught courses within Humanities and Sociology at University of Phoenix and Southern New Hampshire University online. She holds an M.A. and B.A. in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from the University of Cincinnati and earned the Six Sigma Yellow Belt in Diversity & Inclusion. Outside of work, you can find Jess cooking, baking bread, and helping her partner with their efforts in desert permaculture gardening. She enjoys needle crafts, particularly crochet and cross stitch, while watching her favorite TV shows on a loop.
