Heather Farrell-Contreras
Part-Time Instructor
Biography
Heather Farrell-Contreras started dancing as a young girl at a local studio in Colorado Springs. She moved to Las Vegas to earn her BFA in dance performance and choreography at UNLV, where in between semesters she studied on scholarships at Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago and Hubbard Street. She has performed at the International Dance Festival in Kiel, Germany; the Korea National Sports University in Seoul, Korea, and “Fringe” Festival in Adelaide, Australia. Farrell-Contreras was also part of the skeleton cast in Celine Dion’s “Taking Chances'' world tour.
Just before graduating on the Dean’s Honor List, Heather was accepted as an apprentice to join the Contemporary West Dance Theatre (formerly known as the Las Vegas Contemporary Dance Theater). In her 5 years with the company she has been able to continue her journey as an artist, work with national and international choreographers, grace the cover of Luxury Magazine October 2010, tour around the country and to parts of Mexico, and work her way up to Assistant Rehearsal Director and Principal dancer with CWDT. After leaving the company, Farrell-Contreras became a founding member of SampleDance, under the direction of Greg Sample in April 2016. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children.
