Biography
Hayley Meier is a performing artist, choreographer, and educator in dance. She received her early training in upstate New York under the guidance of Timothy M. Draper, which laid the foundation for her successful career. She later earned a BFA in dance from the University of Arizona on a full academic and merit scholarship, where her exceptional artistry across all disciplines was recognized and honored with the inaugural Hayley Meier Award (now known as the Triple Threat Award) in 2009.
Upon graduation, Meier danced for two seasons with the Rochester City Ballet under the direction of Jamey Leverett. She then joined River North Dance Chicago for five seasons under the direction of Frank Chaves, performing notable works across the globe by Adam Barruch, Ashley Rowland, Garrett Moulton, Hanna Brictson, Ivan Perez, Kevin Iega Jeff, Mauro Astolfi, Randy Duncan, Robert Battle, Sherry Zunker, and Sidra Bell.
Continuing her pursuit of excellence, Meier received her Master of Fine Arts from the University of Arizona, where she had the opportunity to perform works by Alexei Ratmansky, Darrell Grand Moultrie, David Berkey, George Balanchine, Jessica Lang, Larry Keigwin, and Nacho Duato. She was also awarded the Creative Achievement Award for the School of Dance for her exceptional creativity, innovation, and unwavering passion for the arts.
Meier founded Body by Hayley, a virtual Pilates class that focuses on strength-building, stability, proper alignment, longevity, while fostering connectivity. This revolutionary initiative has garnered widespread acclaim and has become a testament to Meier's remarkable leadership and innovative spirit.
As an Assistant Professor of Practice at the University of Arizona, Meier contributed to the immersive multimedia production StellarScape at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas. This cutting-edge production blends music, science, visual art, dance, and technology, and was widely praised by audiences. Meier's dedication to nurturing young talent garnered her the prestigious Arizona Arts Undergraduate Advising/Mentoring Award, a testament to her selflessness and commitment to empowering the next generation of artists.
In addition to teaching and mentoring, Meier is a repetiteur for Frank Chaves’ choreography, setting works at the University of Arizona School of Dance, American Midwest Ballet, and Ballet Chicago. Currently serving as a full-time Assistant Professor of Dance at the University of Nevada - Las Vegas, Hayley Meier continues to inspire and make a significant impact in the world of dance and education.
