Haley Dougherty
Ph.D. Candidate
Biography
I am a Ph.D. student intrigued by Southwestern archaeology and ceramic analysis in the Virgin Branch Puebloan region. My research interests include ceramic design styles, database curation software, exchange system modeling, technological innovations, and cultural identities in archaeological landscapes. I am a dedicated researcher focusing on the network of ceramic distribution in the Southwest, the regional impact of the Virgin Branch culture, and the influence of their behaviors throughout prehistory. More recently, I am investigating sand-tempered ceramics in the Virgin Branch typology. My current research intends to develop a new methodology to classify sand tempered wares from identifiable features of these ceramic types, such as sand angularity, paste color, and sand composition.
